What this job can offer you

The Payroll Data Administrator is an entry-level individual contributor responsible for accurate, timely payroll execution. You follow established SOPs and checklists to perform data entry, document handling, and routine transactions across the pre-pay, run, and post-pay phases, building foundational country and systems knowledge as you go.

In this entry-level role, you provide essential support to accurate, timely payroll delivery: you keep records audit-ready, meet your deadlines, and escalate exceptions early so issues are caught before they reach employees. You partner closely with senior colleagues who guide your development and own the more complex work, contributing to a reliable, high-accountability team environment.

What you bring

Understanding of payroll fundamentals, SOPs, checklists, and data privacy requirements.

Understanding of statutory settings, earnings and deductions, and banking validations.

Able to execute routine data entry and validations accurately and on time.

Competent in Google Sheets or Excel, with strong attention to detail and organizing habits.

Collaborative communicator who escalates exceptions early and learns quickly from feedback.

Reliable, detail-oriented, and calm when working to deadlines.

Comfortable adopting new tools and AI-assisted workflows as they are introduced.

Fluent in English; French and/or Dutch is a plus.

Aligned with Remote's values and department competencies, and with asynchronous ways of working.

Tools & systems

Core: Google Workspace (Sheets, Drive), Microsoft Excel, Notion, Slack, Zendesk, Monday.com.

Payroll software: Apsal, Easypay, AFAS

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Execution & Data Integrity

Execute pre-pay, run, and post-pay steps using SOPs, checklists, and templates, handling data accurately and on time.

Enter standard inputs (timesheets, allowances, deductions) and validate source data against records.

Run predefined checks and reconcile basic variances, escalating anything outside your scope.

Controls, Compliance & Documentation

Create and maintain employee payroll records and evidence to audit standards.

Execute documented payroll processes and flag when documentation is out of date

Maintain data confidentiality and basic compliance awareness (e.g., GDPR, POPIA, or Country equivalents).

Payroll Administration

Support expense management and approvals, processing and routing items accurately and on time.

Perform routine data reconciliation, checking inputs and records against source data.

Manage mail and payroll correspondence, preparing, sending, and filing accurately.

Maintain payroll records, trackers, and status logs, and carry out general payroll support tasks under supervision.

Collaboration & Growth

Work effectively within the team, following guidance from senior colleagues and applying feedback.

Communicate progress and blockers clearly in team channels and updates.

Identify minor process gaps and suggest improvements.

Adopt AI-assisted tools and workflows as they are introduced, using them to work more accurately and efficiently, and share what you learn.

The base salary range may be subject to change.

The annual salary range for this full-time position is

€36.750—€41.350 EUR
